Camagüey, Assembly, 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers Union (CTC), Organizing Commission of the 22nd Congress

Trade union movement in Camagüey committed to meeting the Congress assembly schedule

Camagüey, Jan 23. - Holding the provincial assembly for the 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers Union (CTC, for its acronym in Spanish) in April was the commitment agreed upon this Thursday by the Camagüey workers' movement following a working meeting with Yaisel Osvaldo Pieter Terri, a member of the Organizing Commission of the 22nd Congress.

The workers' movement in Camagüey is working to reach the final sessions of the 22nd CTC Congress in better conditions.

During the meeting, the provincial secretariat of the organization, together with its municipal and union secretaries, confirmed their desire to move forward and hold the five remaining municipal assemblies.

To achieve this, as explained by Yamisleidys López Fernández, General Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the CTC, a system of visits to the municipalities was created to work directly on cadre policy and the creation of reserves.

Thanks to this, as noted by Ana Iris Hidalgo Conde, a member of the secretariat, of the five municipalities that remain, it is expected that Florida and Minas will be able to hold theirs in February.

Working, said Pieter Terri, is the most important thing. If something is done every day and another issue is resolved, problems can be solved little by little. The commitment must be to reach a higher stage.

Those present also discussed the training of cadres to achieve a real strengthening of the base structures, the attention to cadres, and the evaluation process.

Meanwhile, the member of the Organizing Commission also commented on the actions being taken to address one of the issues most frequently raised by workers regarding the payment of union dues through payment gateways.

As detailed, several options are being considered besides cash payment, which could include a payroll deduction – a variant that will be tested in some entities – scanning a QR code, or using Transfermovil.

For this last variant, a contract has already been made with the developers, but work is underway on the digitalization of potential members, as well as the computerization of the offices. (Text and photo: Trabajadores Digital)
